Dear Parents and Guardians
I would like to thank our students, staff and parents for another outstanding term. I have been very proud of our students and their achievements throughout the term. I pray that our families and school communities have a safe and enjoyable school holiday break and look forward to welcoming our community back to school on Tuesday 13th October.
After several years, we farewell our current canteen operator, Simone Mayne operating Delight Bite. Simone has provided an exceptional Canteen Service and on behalf of our school community I would like to sincerely thank Simone for her service to our school. After the school advertisement, we were able to appoint our new Canteen Manager. Commencing Term 4, Brooke McCamey will be operating the canteen on Friday’s and we look forward to the next era of our exciting canteen opportunities.
I would like to thank you for the contribution you make to your child’s education and our school community through the fees you pay. Decisions around school fees always consider accessibility and affordability, to ensure that all families who seek a Catholic education for their child can access one. Any fee increases at St Benedict’s, like other Catholic schools, are made within limits set by our governing body, the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA), with affordability in mind. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the current recession, CECWA decided in their September meeting that Catholic schools would not increase fees for 2021. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that there will be a 0% fee increase for 2021.
Our School Capital Development Plan will now be progressing with our proposal being submitted in December. With positive approval, we will be able to proceed to the Systems Funding Application round in May 2021. As we firm up our master plan, I will share these drawing with the school community along with a proposed timeline. These are very exciting times as it will address some of the current issues such as drop off/pick up and assembly spaces. I look forward to this development and sharing this as things unfold.
